New beginnings

Having been engrossed in a recent Sunday Times article about the new buzz word #purpose, it struck me that my #purpose has recently been redefined by events at Attic. The New Year brought some fabulous changes and we have successfully hired two new consultants and are mid-way through the training phase.

I have to say that I love training. It reminds me that whilst recruitment isn’t, as they say, rocket science, not everyone can do it as well as well can.

I love training people, particularly those with no prior experience in recruitment. It gives me the opportunity to work with a blank canvas and develop an Attic Consultant who is far removed from the stereotypical recruiter image. This is why our business has been such a success – we are real people who work hard and care about what we do at every level.

Our new consultants have had such interesting backgrounds with an abundance of transferable skills and haven’t been set in a mould to ‘sell’ but are bright, interesting women who are embarking upon a new career in life and are essentially interested in what makes people tic.

Trying to impart our values makes me up my game and reassess my work patterns to ensure that I am living and breathing these high standards. New beginnings can be a little daunting but are also an exciting opportunity to build something special and ensure the future success of the business.

Whilst #purpose is the new word for now – how about #loverecruitment!

I have a huge amount of confidence in the team at Attic – they have taken a lot of time and trouble to understand the culture and nuances of our business and it shows. I will keep asking them to support us because I know they will deliver a great result – quickly and with style.
